Warriors even series in bounce-back win over Boston.
After coming off their most disappointing game of the season in Game 1's 4th quarter collapse, the Warriors bounced back with a commanding win over Boston in Game 2, winning 107–88 to tie the series at 1–1.
With a close back and forth first half, the Warriors took control of Game 2 in the second half, outscoring the Celtics 35–14 in the 3rd quarter to change the momentum of the game, keeping their foot on the gas in the 4th quarter to secure a win in Game 2 before their two-game trip to Boston.
"It was definitely an attitude adjustment," Green said.
"They are who we thought they were. So we knew we had to keep our foot on the gas pedal and not let up, and we did that."
One game after watching Boston make 9 threes in the fourth quarter to steal Game 1, the Warriors made adjustments to contain Boston's perimeter shooting, holding the Celtics to 37% shooting in Game 2. While Jayson Tatum hit 6-of-9 (66.6%) threes and scored 28 points on Sunday, Golden State contained Tatum's supporting cast.
Al Horford, Marcus Smart, and Derrick White combined to shoot just 6-for-23 (26%) from the field in Game 2, after shooting 15–23 (65%) from three between the trio in Game 1.
Averaging 31.5 points a game in two games of the Finals, Stephen Curry had himself an all-star performance, scoring a game-high 29 points on 42% (5-for-12) shooting from three and 43% overall from the floor on 9-of-21 shooting. Surprisingly, Curry gave the Warriors a spurt on the defensive end, grabbing 6 rebounds and 3 steals with his 4 assists on the night.
Most improved award runner-up Jordan Poole was Golden States' spark plug off their bench. Poole finished second on the team with 17 points on 43% (6-for-14) shooting overall, knocking down five threes, including a buzzer-beating half-court three to end the 3rd quarter, solidifying the Warriors' game-changing 2nd half.
Game 3 will begin in Boston for the next two games at the TD Garden on Wednesday night at 6PM.
