Thoroughbred holiday lights in Rancho Cucamonga banning pedestrians this year
The city of Rancho Cucamonga will not allow pedestrians to view the holiday lights displays on Thoroughbred Street because of an executive order that was enacted due to COVID-19. Observers will only be allowed to drive by the houses in order to prevent crowds forming and reduce the risk of injury from foot and vehicle traffic. The drive-thru only event will begin on Dec. 4 and conclude on Dec. 24.

Ontario Airport opens COVID-19 testing center in parking lot
Ontario Airport used its advantage of having vacant lots to provide space for a Covid-19 testing center, where one can find out results in 20 minutes. The site is located in Lot 3 between terminals 2 and 4, where clinicians will administer people while inside their vehicles. The testing site is operated by Covid Clinic, a nonprofit that operated in California and Nevada. Ontario Airport is the organization’s 24th location. The testing site is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

LA County records 10,000 more coronavirus cases Sunday
Los Angeles County surpassed its number of coronavirus cases on Dec. 6, marking 10,528 new infections. This data marks the fifth time in the last six days that new records have been set. This comes as Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a regional “stay-at-home” order that went into effect on Sunday Dec. 6 at 11:59 p.m, after intensive-care unit bed availability fell below 15% capacity throughout the 11-county Southern California region.

Former Sears store in Santa Monica reinvents itself as office spaces
The Sears store in Santa Monica shuttered its doors back in April 2017, after 60 years of operation. The department store building spent the next two years going through a $50-million extensive makeover to turn itself into a modern-chic building that houses offices, shops, and restaurants. The complex, named Mark 302, has been ready for tenants to move into one of its dozen spaces but the ongoing pandemic has crossed off restaurants and offices as its possible renters.

Bond Fire in Orange County is 50% contained
The Bond Fire in Orange County has burned 7,375 acres and destroyed 28 structures. This devastation has caused thousands of people to evacuate their homes since it began in Silverado Canyon. Mild winds on Saturday night allowed firefighters to increase the containment of the fire by 10%. Fire authorities have battled five of the six largest wildfires in California history this year alone.
