Where Will Russell Wilson Go?

By: Thomas Davila

Another NFL season concluded this past Sunday after Super Bowl LV was won by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now the real action will start as the teams who did not not make it far in the post season begin to restructure their teams. Who will end up where?

That is exactly what is happening with current Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson. CBS Sports is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks star Quarterback has expressed dissatisfaction with the team and is looking to play elsewhere. The Seahawks say that these rumors of them trading the former Super Bowl champion are untrue, and very unlikely that that will ever happen.

There are teams within the National Football League that could definitely use a star quarterback like Wilson. He is only 32 years old, so he still has at least 5 or 6 more years left in him. The average age of an NFL quarter is 38 years old but we have seen quarterback play into their forties.

He can be traded to the New Orleans Saints who just lost their quarterback Drew Brees after he announced his retirement. He would also get to play with the likes of Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas. What it comes down to is the almighty dollar. Can the Saints afford him?

Wilson could go to the Pittsburgh Steelers if Ben Roethlisberger decides to retire like Drew Brees. The Steelers are in the same boat as the Saints; they do not know if the organization has the money to sign him. Could Wilson go to Philadelphia? That would mean trading their star quarterback Carson Wentz for Russell Wilson. Again, what it comes down to is money and do the Eagles want a quarterback like Wilson. Philadelphia could benefit from having a seasoned veteran like Wilson even though he is only 32 years old.

What about Denver? This one seems like an unlikely choice for him, because the atmosphere within that organization is not all that great.

Would he be a better fit for the Chicago Bears? Chicago is desperate for a quarterback right now and they would definitely be in playoff contention with a quarterback like Russell Wilson at the helm. However there are a few components from keeping this from happening.

Chicago does not have a quarterback that they could exchange for Wilson in return. The question also remains, "can Chicago afford to acquire him?" Only time will tell if Wilson decide to leave Seattle.

If he decides to leave Seattle he could play for the Washington Football Team. It does not seem likely that Wilson would go to Washington, as they are an underrated team. The only thing good going for Washington is their head coach Ron Rivera. Wilson would without a doubt get along with a coach like Ron Rivera.

Could he go to Dallas? Should he elect to go to Dallas this would keep all the Cowboy haters quiet. Dallas has not won a Super Bowl in nearly thirty years, and could definitely use a quarterback like Russell Wilson. The question is would Jerry Jones be willing to dish out the money to acquire Wilson?
