The Black College Expo

By Seiana Spencer-Kendrick

The 25th annual Black College Expo, presented by the National College Resources Foundation, was hosted at the Los Angeles Convention on Feb. 10, 2024.

This event welcomed everyone, students of all ages, giving them the chance to see college as an option.

The Black College Expo provided the opportunity for students to meet with over 50 colleges, get accepted on the spot, receive scholarships on the spot, also College and Career seminars.

Along with educational resources, the expo showcased many Black-owned businesses, college programs, as well as alternative career choices aside from college.

Students and their families got to talk to representatives from the office of admissions and hear first-hand experiences from attending students. Besides educational information, there was music, video game competitions, plus multiple chances to win cash prizes. Along with the chance to purchase merch from many of the vendors representing Black-owned businesses throughout the nation.

The Black College Expo was a great experience and one I would recommend to those who are interested in talking to colleges face-to-face, hearing what they offer, about the campus environment, getting your questions answered while having fun doing it.
