Michael Jordan Joining NASCAR

Michael Jordan has become a NASCAR owner in partnership with Denny Hamlin. Jordan is the first Black majority car owner in NASCAR, since Wendell Scott. Jordan and Hamlin plan to have Bubba Wallace drive for their team by 2021. There are details both Jordan and Hamlin are working out, such as what number, sponsors and car manufacturer they plan to go with in their NASCAR debut.

Jordan stated that, “It was one of those things, again, it’s always been on my mind,” on being able to own a NASCAR team.

Many are waiting to see how Jordan and his legacy from the National Basketball Association transfer over to the NASCAR world.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the White House’s top health advisors, has addressed Congress about a COVID-19 vaccine.

“It might take some time,” stated Fauci for an FDA-approved vaccine for COVID-19 due to, “rigorous clinical testing required.”

That is done by the FDA in order to approve a safe and effective vaccine to be able to give people. There has been tension building between Dr. Fauci and President Trump as Trump has been promising the public a vaccine for COVID-19 by the end of October and Dr. Fauci believes it could be ready until than the end of this year or April 2021.

Breonna Taylor Case Update

More than 6 months after the shooting of Breonna Taylor, the announcement from a Kentucky Grand Jury would be made for the indictment of one of the police officers involved. Brett Hankison, officer accused of murdering Breonna Taylor, has been indicted to first degree for three counts of endangerment. This announcement would come after a settlement made to the Taylor family and promised reforms to the police department. As described by the family, it shows the beginning of justice and its importance to keep in mind the job at hand. Breonna Taylor’s family has been calling for an indictment for all three of the officers that were involved in the shooting.

Gale Sayers Hall of Fame Running back Passed Away at age 77

Former Chicago Bears running back Gale Sayers passed away at the age of 77 on Sept. 23, 2020.

It was confirmed by the President of the Hall of Fame David Baker, “All those who love the game of football mourn the loss of one of the greatest to ever play this game with the passing of Chicago Bears legend Gale Sayers.”

Sayers was one of the top running backs the Chicago Bears had, earning him a first-ballot Hall of Fame entry. Gale was with the Chicago Bears all of his career, from 1965-1971. His career was cut short due to many injuries a major one leading to his retirement was on his left knee, which occurred during the 1970 season leading to him retiring in the preseason of the 1971 season.

RV-Size Asteroid

There are many asteroids both small and large passing around Earth's atmosphere all the time that are not visible to the human eye. It’s difficult to identify these asteroids until they get closer to Earth and then experts can then track them. On Thursday Oct. 1, there will be a large asteroid passing at around 13,000 miles from Earth. This Asteroid will be going about 17,200 mph and continue its orbit around the sun. Although it is not going to be visible to the naked eye, it will be closer than the sun and even some weather satellites.
