Six Flags Magic Mountain is keeping the magic alive
A lot of amusement parks have had to cancel beloved holiday traditions because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Six Flags Magic Mountain has found an alternative for people to enjoy holiday cheer from the safety of their vehicles. Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience opens this weekend and will run on select dates and conclude on Jan. 3. It will feature holiday lights and music with bumper-to bumper traffic along a mile-long drive-thru lane. When else can one find themselves driving through the amusement park? Reservations are required and can be found through the Magic Mountain website. Tickets are $20 to $25 per person depending on the date.

Frontier Airlines add flights to Ontario Airport
Starting in early 2021, Frontier Airlines will add service to seven destinations from Ontario International Airport. The budget-carrier will begin flights to San Francisco, Phoenix, Chicago (Chicago O’Hare International Airport), and Sacramento between February-May. They will also bring back flights to Las Vegas, Orlando, and Miami.
Mark Thorpe, CEO of Ontario International Airport says, “Frontier is a longtime Ontario partner – the first to announce new service after ONT’s transfer to local control in 2016. They recognize the value of our low-cost, international gateway,”

‘The Elf on the Shelf’ drive-thru experience has modified hours
The “Elf on the Shelf’ drive-thru experience has modified its hours in order to follow Governor Newsom’s newest stay-at-home orders. The event, which began on Nov. 12, will have time slots between 5-9 p.m., ending an hour short of California’s 10 p.m. curfew. Tickets are being sold for designated slots every 15 minutes. Tickets are sold starting at $19.95 per child and $24.95 per adult at elfontheshelfjourney.com.

Inland Empire COVID-19 testing is surging
More and more people have gotten tested for COVID-19 in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. The number of those tested went up 55% this month compared to October. The city of Riverside started a free, self administered oral swab test, in partnership with Curative. Curative offers locations all throughout the city and gives results within 48 hours.
Brandon Brown, an associate professor at UCR says, “The rise in testing is a huge plus… the increase may mean that families, friends, and people themselves are holding each other accountable to be as safe/protected as possible and know their status prior to coming together (for Thanksgiving).”

Rent is dropping in Los Angeles
Apartment rent is declining in Los Angeles due to COVID-19, and landlords are trying to fill those spaces. The estimated rent for an apartment has fallen 5.3% compared to earlier this year. The opposite is happening east, which is the Inland Empire. In Riverside County, rent for vacant units jumped 6.9% and 9.1% in San Bernardino County.
Rob Warnock, a research associate with Apartment list says, “It’s not so much that people are moving from L.A. to Rancho Cucamonga, but rather the people who were planning to move to L.A. are thinking, ‘Do I really need to move to L.A.,’" or can they move to the suburbs?"
