Disney to Add Racism Disclaimers to Their Classics

Disney is currently adding disclaimers to some of the classic movies that include racist stereotypes. The company said that while it can't change the past, "we can acknowledge it, learn from it and move forward together".

Several movies from Disney+ streaming platform will now include a disclaimer reading: "This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together."

Disney said that the reason behind it is part of its "ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion." Instead of removing the "offensive" content, they hope to "spark conversation and open dialogue on history that affects us all".
