What Would Morgen Do?

There is a new sound serenading the streets of Los Angeles Calif. and it is coming from singer, songwriter and music producer Morgen Campbell. Campbell known by her stage name, Morgen C is a young amateur artist who is already making it big in the music scene.
From a young age, the young star knew she would be more than average. The inspiration and foundation of her career began with her father Gordon Campbell. As a little girl in her father’s studio, she watched as he mixed beats, sang and played the drums. He encouraged her to pursue a career in music and even helped record one of her first songs “Seasons.”
In an interview with Morgen she states,
“When I was in the car with my dad he would make me practice notes. He never let me out of the car until I was able to hit that note.”
Over the years as Morgen matured so did her music. While attending high school she was mentored by Tori Weiston, an English professor and an advocate for the Black community. Weiston and her wife saw potential in the young artist and helped her build her musical talents. While in high school, Morgen attended Garnish Music Production School to improve her skills in engineering music. She eventually graduated from the academy and was invited to mentor young students there. The singer also attended The Digital Dreamers Academy, designed for singers to learn the STEM of music production. For six weeks and eight hours a day, Morgen spent her time at the academy. At the end of the six-week session Morgen and her group presented their project in front of an industry panel. She won the competition two years in a row for her work.
At just 20-years-old the young singer released her first hit, “This Shit Bang” which she produced herself along with producer, Yike Mike. The single mixes instrumentals that give off a California R&B vibe. The song was accompanied by a music video which showed the California native living a luxurious life. The music video was shot by Carrigan Production and the scene begins in the studio where the singer gets disappointed that her producer has to leave. She then jumps into a dream where it shows her on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Following that scene, the audience is then hit with a cool mansion party with all the singer’s friends having fun. This single is a fun take on R&B and can definitely be a vibe to listen to while kicking back.
The rising star is also soon to release her new EP next year called, What Would Morgen Do? The EP is set to include nine songs. Morgen hopes that by releasing this new EP it would finally give her some respect in the music industry as an artist and creator. Each song was individually picked to tell a story that Morgen hopes everybody can relate to.
In an interview the singer states,
“I want to show people what I can do with my music. It took me forever to release this but when you see something clear for yourself you don’t need validation from others. For me this EP is about healing through my music and I hope everybody can see and feel that as well.”
Unlike many artists in today’s generation, Morgen’s style of music is a very unique R&B sound that showcases jazzy slow beats. In each of the songs on the EP, she opens her heart and is very raw with her emotions. She believes her and music were made for each other. Just like a relationship they understand each other on a personal level. She believes that music for her is a band-aid that heals an open wound. The studio is her safe haven away from all the distractions in the world.
The singer envisions that five years from now she will be bigger than where she is today. She hopes to make a mark on the music industry and put the Inland Empire on the map for the music game. She also hopes to open a recording studio for other artists like her and give them a chance to share their talents. As for now, the singer is working on releasing more music in the future and collaborating with other big name artists.
