In game two of the World Series, the Texas Rangers put out Jordan Montgomery to face off against Diamondbacks starting pitcher Merril Kelly. Both pitchers are coming off championship series appearances on exactly five days' rest.

The two pitchers were dominating through three innings, before Gabriel Moreno started the scoring in the fourth by hammering a solo home run into the Diamondbacks bullpen.

In the same inning, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. brought home Tommy Pham with an RBI, run batted in, single, to put Arizona up 2-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Mitch Garver finally got the Rangers on the board with a solo home run, making it 2-1. Garver has had an underrated postseason for the Texas squad, clobbering three home runs, and driving in 13 runs in this year’s postseason. This home run hit by Garver would end up being the only run scored by the Rangers. From here on out, it was all Diamondbacks.

In the seventh, Evan Longoria showed off his vintage self, hitting an RBI double down the left field line. Corbin Carroll then shot a single the other way, scoring Longoria. In the bottom half of the inning, Merrill Kelly finished his strong outing, going 7.0 innings pitched, only giving up three hits, allowing one earned run, and striking out nine.

Going into the eighth inning, it was 4-1 Arizona and at the end of eight, it was 7-1. The game ended at 9-1. The Diamondbacks turned game two into a laugher, and made a huge statement as the series goes to Arizona.
