Trillions of cicadas about to emerge across US
Cicadas will emerge across America, making an entrance to 15 states. In possibly a third of a square foot of dirt, there will be at least seven cicadas, at a rate of a million per acre. Trillions of these bugs are expected to some, scientists say. In states including New York, Georgia, and Tennessee, it’ll be a noticeable change of having these bugs making their way here. Coming in mass numbers, they will come out mainly at dusk to avoid everything that wants to eat them. They will be hiding and climbing up trees to find a safe hiding spot. As this unusual event is starting to scramble, people are becoming wary and anxious.
Highlighted as one of nature’s weirdest events, scientists still say, “Something is still right with nature. And it’s quite a show.”

Why is India Running Out Of Oxygen?
Being one of the 140 patients in India’s capital, New Delhi, Sanchi Gupta and her mother have been impacted by Covid-19. The oxygen supply at the hospital ran out and so the mission to find oxygen cylinders was relied on, due to India not having any more full cylinders. With India confirming more than 300,000 coronavirus cases a day since the past 2 weeks, their medical supply chain has broken. Hospitals are experiencing other issues in addition to the limited oxygen: hospital beds, antiviral drugs and coronavirus test kits are all at a shortage. India is facing consequences due to the lack of spending on public health of nearly 1.4 billion people.

As well as her daughter, they were knocked on the ground and stomped on repeatedly as they were on their way to church. Vilma was diagnosed with a fractured pelvis and is calling for greater attention to violence against people of Asian descent. A study in March revealed that Asian Americans were among the least likely to say that they are “very comfortable” reporting hate crime to the authorities. Many Asian Americans may feel pressure or that the crime will be a burden, causing them to not report it. Elizabeth, the daughter of the victim, is trying to raise awareness about anti-Asian violence, in hopes to prevent any further hate crime.

Applebee’s shorter menu is here to stay. Here’s what got cut
When the pandemic hit, Applebee’s sales decreased and their menu had to trim down. From 160 items to now 100, their goal is to remove items that were too complicated to prepare. Some examples were BBQ brisket tacos, sweet and savory grilled chicken, clam chowder and more. When Applebee’s first removed items from its menu, they were trying to simplify operations during this time. It was a rough transition that they were experiencing firsthand and a drop of at least 22% of locations opened in 2020. However, throughout the first few months of 2021, there has been an increase of 12%.
