The Supreme Court agrees to hear NCAA case on student athlete compensation

On Wednesday The Supreme Court chose to take up an appeal with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to allow colleges to compensate athletes for education-related expenses. The NCAA has taken an abundance amount of criticism over the years by the enormous amount of profits they have made from its collegiate athletes. Many former NCAA athletes and professional athletes have expressed their take on compensation toward college athletes. They share how important it is for collegiate athletes to be compensated, many sharing stories of going without food many times in their experience as a college athlete. The supreme court can change so many collegiate athletes' lives, it's only a matter of time to wait for the decisions on compensation toward them.

After collapsing on court Florida Gators basketball player is breathing on his own

University of Florida men's basketball player Keyontae Johnson, who collapsed mid-game on Saturday, is now breathing and talking with family on his own. Keyontae Johnson is in stable condition, according to his parents. Johnson is leading the Florida Gators basketball team in points and rebounds, averaging 19.7 points and six rebounds per game this season.

 "We feel so much love and support from everyone, and we're beyond grateful for the care and attention that Keyontae has received throughout these past several days," Johnson’s parents said.

Studies show Loneliness can help build parts of your brain linked to imagination

During the holiday season and during this entire pandemic that has hit the world, when many experience isolation, the effects of loneliness can be correlated with helping to create a region connected with your imagination in your brain. Relations between these regions were improved and the amount of gray matter was greater than in those who were not alone. Although the feeling of loneliness is not a great emotion to be going through, it is good to hear the loneliness in some way is beneficial.

MLB officially recognizes Negro League as Major League after 100 years

After a long overdue 100 years the MLB has finally recognized the segregated Negro League as a major league. The seven leagues that were played from 1920 to 1948 will be added to MLB history with their stats and records. The news comes as the nation, following a year of protests against police brutality and racial injustice, faces structural racism across the world. 

In June, a statement from the MLB promised to address "symptoms of systemic racism, prejudice, and injustice.”

Alaska healthcare worker suffers first allergic reaction to Pfizer vaccine

On Tuesday an Alaska health care worker who suffered an allergic reaction to the Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, the worker felt flushed within the first ten minutes of receiving the vaccine. The health care worker later had symptoms, including shortness of breath and elevated heart rate, doctors said Wednesday. Health officials say they are expecting the occasional allergic reaction and are prepared to treat anyone who suffers from one. This case is the first reported case of an allergic reaction throughout the US from the Pfizer vaccine was shipped to all 50 states on Tuesday. It is inevitable that the Pfizer vaccine will give a percentage of those taking the vaccine will have symptoms of an allergic reaction.
