COVID-19 Continues to Thricein Los Angeles County
The number of COVID-19 cases have varied throughout the last few months. More recently, in Los Angeles County the number has been high for individuals between the ages 18 and 49. That marks about 59% of the county’s cases. Are people practicing social distancing and wearing face masks? It begs the question. Taking these precautions will help the county move out of Tier 1, the strictest category in California’s reopening plan.

Plants Save the Day for the Inland Empire During COVID-19
Many college students like Lindsey Sezati have found the pandemic to be a very hectic time and have turned to plants as a stress-reliever. After a trip to Home Depot, Sezati found herself buying plants to nurture as a way to practice social distancing. She said, “Being cooped up inside, I had the time and peace of mind I wanted, and after awhile, I wanted others to experience this too.” She has inspired others to take care of plants and trade them, sell them, and offer tips on how to successfully grow them.

Cooler Weather Expected in Southern California
For those who aren’t too fond of the warm Southern California weather, the end of October shows some hope for a cooler autumn. There is light rain and a 3 to 6 degree dip in Fahrenheit, as clouds are expected to roll over the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday.
NWS meteorologist Andrew Rorke says, “Pretty exciting weather next couple days, with our temperatures finally around or even slightly below normal for the first time in a long time.”
Since July, Southern California has had many heat waves that have hit record numbers, thus making residents eager for the cold.

The World’s Longest Flight Has Made a Revival
Singapore Airlines has reinstated its Singapore-Newark flight after halting it on March 23 due to COVID-19. This 18-hour flight travels 9,534 miles from the East Coast of the United States all the way to Singapore. Singapore Airlines has decided to switch the flight from Newark, NJ, to JFK, which are 21 miles away from each other. This airport change will allow the airline to better accommodate passengers and cargo during this operating climate. The airline expects significant cargo demand that includes pharmaceuticals and e-commerce. The flight will run three times a week using an Airbus A350-900.

Reinvention is in Store for the Montclair Place Shopping Mall
The retail world has definitely changed because of COVID-19. Many retailers are fleeing their leases because of record-breaking low sales. The Montclair Place mall in Montclair, California is expected to go through a multi-phase plan which will replace the aging mall with apartments, homes, and high-rise condos. It will increase the city’s current population of 39,437. The Montclair Place is currently anchored by Macy’s and JCPenney, after Sears and Nordstrom vacated their spaces earlier this year. Councilwoman Corysa Martinez said, “People will feel sentimental about the Montclair Place not existing in the way they are used to.”
