Trump’s Nominee
A mere eight days after the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, President Trump announced his pick to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court. His nominee is Amy Coney Barrett, who is currently an appeals court judge and law professor at University of Notre Dame. Trump welcomed Barrett as,
“One of our nation’s most brilliant and gifted legal minds.”
He also said of Barrett,
“She is a woman of unparalleled achievement, towering intellect, sterling credentials and unyielding loyalty to the Constitution.”
In a short speech after she was introduced, Barrett paid tribute to Ginsburg for serving as a role model for women.
“She not only broke glass ceilings, she smashed them,” Barrett said.

Joe Montana Saves Grandchild
TMZ reported, NFL Hall Of Fame Quarterback Joe Montana and his wife had to grab his baby granddaughter from the arms of an intruder inside his Malibu home last Saturday from being kidnapped. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that a woman entered the home and took the nine month-old from the living room. The woman made her way upstairs with the child where the infant’s grandparents confronted her and took the child back. The intruder then ran out of the house. Someone from the home flagged down the police who were in the neighborhood and reported the kidnapping attempt. The woman was found at a nearby home and arrested by police, her name has not been released.

The Final Two
It is down to the final two teams in the NBA Finals. On Sunday night, the Miami Heat beat the Boston Celtics in Game 6 125-113 to advance to the finals. While California’s own Los Angeles Lakers bested the Denver Nuggets in Game 5 117-107 the night prior to advance as well. These two teams have never met in the finals and according CBS Sports, the Los Angeles Lakers are favored to win the first game of the finals by a five point margin. Tip-off is set to take place on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. E.T. in Orlando, Florida.

Open California Now
A group of elected officials in Orange, Riverside and San Diego Counties held a news conference on Monday to show support for the safe reopening of businesses in all three counties.
“The subject that is on everybody’s mind right now: When are we going to go ahead and open back up? When are we going to have everyone considered as an essential business and get back to life as we know it?” Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Hewitt said as he opened the press conference.
Representative from all three counties promoted the website OpenCALNow, which was founded by a group of local officials, leaders, and businesses.
“On behalf of the public to re-open California safely and end the economic and societal suffering caused by the orders from the state capitol,” OpenCALNow says.
