Trump blocks CA fuel standards

President Donald Trump bars California from setting stricter fuel standards. He announced on Twitter that his administration is revoking California’s Federal Waiver on emissions. The President claims this will make cars cheaper while simultaneously making them safer. California officials and environmentalists plan on taking action against Trump.

Man stabs daughter

A 71-year-old man was arrested in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of stabbing his daughter to death. After he called 911, authorities found 49-year-old Darlene Montes with multiple stab wounds, and she later died of her injuries in the hospital. Her father Joe Edward Montes was interviewed and arrested on suspicion of murder.

Quarterbacks keep going down

Three potentially Hall of Fame quarterbacks will miss starts next week. Eli Manning was benched in favor of rookie Daniel Jones while Drew Brees will miss about six weeks with a thumb injury. Ben Roethlisberger’s elbow is out of commission for the remainder of the season. This season has treated quarterback particularly poorly: Sam Darnold was diagnosed with mononucleosis, keeping him out indefinitely while his backup, Trevor Siemian, landed on the injured reserve with an ankle injury this week as well.

Parks and Recreation 

NBC announced that the sitcom Parks and Recreation will not be available on streaming services like Netflix and Hulu starting October 2020. The network is making an attempt at exclusivity with the creation a new streaming service called Peacock. It was already decided in June that after Netflix’s deal with The Office is over, that it too will be available on Peacock. These two shows are expected to be major selling points after the launch of the streaming service in April 2020.
