1. Apple Unveils New Devices at 2018 Keynote

Apple held their annual keynote at the Steve Jobs theater in Cupertino, CA on Wednesday, September 12. During the event, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed 4 new devices. The Apple Watch Series 4, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. The Apple Watch Series 4 now has a wider variety of watch faces, new health features and expanded support for third-party apps. Consumers can purchase the newest watch Friday, September 21. The first iPhone Apple unveiled was the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. They both offer improved cameras, Face ID and battery life. The XR does not come equipped with OLED or two back cameras.

2. Paul Manafort Pleads Guilty

On Friday September 14, Paul Manafort, President Trumps former campaign manager. Agreed to became a witness to Special Counsel, Robert Mueller's investigation of the 2016 Presidential elections. Manafort pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of justice and one count of conspiracy against the United States. The news comes after Manafort was indicted last year on 12 federal charges. He was indicted again this year in February for an extra 18 federal charges including tax evasion and bank fraud.

3. The Philippines hit with strongest storm this year

More than 4 million people will be affected by Super Typhoon Mangkhut in the northern Philippines. Officials say this is the worlds strongest storm this year with winds reaching up to 125 mph. Thousands have been evacuated to safer areas of the island and flights have been cancelled until further notice. Reports say Hong Kong will be affected by the typhoon next and it will be the worst storm they have seen in 60 years. The last storm to hit the Philippines at this magnitude was Super Typhoon Haiya in 2013.

4. Dallas Police Officer Shoots and Kills Neighbor

Last Thursday, September 6, an off duty Dallas Police Officer shot and killed her downstairs neighbor. Officer Amber Guyger, entered her neighbor's apartment thinking that it was her own. According to Guyger's account, she got off on the wrong floor and didn't realize it wasn't her home.The 4 year veteran officer of the Dallas Police Department is being charged for the murder of 26 year-old Botham Jean. Mr.Jean was living in Dallas, working at an accounting and counseling firm when he was killed. His death has sparked attention from many news outlets and the public due to the circumstances of the event. There have been speculations that the killing was racially charged.

5. North Carolina Braces Itself for Tropical Storm Florence

Tropical Storm Florence has taken the lives of 5 people since it touched down in North Carolina, Friday September 14. According to CBS, a mother and infant were among those killed when a tree fell onto their home. The firefighters who attempted to rescue them stopped and prayed after to honor their lives. The father was taken to a nearby hospital for severe injuries. Residents are expected to evacuate if they are in the storms path. The National Weather Service reported that the flooding will worsen over the weekend due to the heavy rainfall.
