1. Cynthia Nixon Announces Run for New York Governor

Cynthia Nixon, who is an award winning actress well-known for her role in "Sex and The City" has announced on her personal Twitter account that she is running for New York state Governor. In her announcement Nixon said, "We are sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power than they do about us." She will be running under the Democratic party, against Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) in the states primary election. This will be the actress's first campaign, however she has been involved in politics like education policy, for years.The election is set for September of this year.

2. Fourth Bomb Explodes in Texas

On Sunday night in Austin, Texas, another bomb exploded injuring two people. This explosion was set off just hours after law enforcement officials made a direct appeal to whoever has been responsible for three other explosions. This most recent explosion is now the fourth in a string of bombs. Brian Manley, Austin's police chief told reporters that it was “very possible” the explosion “was activated by someone either handling, kicking or coming in contact with a tripwire that activated the device." This was a different trigger from the first explosions, which were triggered by the handling of packages. Authorities responded to the scene after receiving multiple reports around 8:30 PM. Two men in their 20s were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

3. Self-driving Uber kills a Pedestrian

Sunday night a self driving Uber stuck and killed a pedestrian in Tempe, Arizona. Although having a vehicle operator inside at the time, Tempe police have said that the self-driving car was in autonomous mode at the time of the crash. The vehicle hit a woman who was walking outside of the crosswalk. She was sent to a hospital where she later died. This incident is the first reported fatal crash in the U.S. involving a self-driving vehicle and a pedestrian. Uber released a statement on Twitter which said, “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family. We are fully cooperating with local authorities in their investigation of this incident.”

4. Parents Outraged Over Middle School Fight Club

Parents are horrified over an apparent Fight Club at Bonita Vista Middle School in Chula Vista, California. Alain Tripp has lived across the street from the middle school for over a decade. Tripp has stated, “Every so often I see a group of 15-20 kids. They’ll be standing there and fighting.” Other neighbors have reported witnessing dozens of kids running down a trail on their minimum-day. The trail leads to Discovery Park where there have been organized fights that are then uploaded onto a secret Instagram account for fame on the internet. The school's principal has issued a statement saying, "I can't speak to the accuracy of this post, but it definitely raises concerns. I am working with the district office and Chula Vista Police Department to address the issue."

5. College Student Who Vanished in Bermuda is Found Dead

Nineteen-year-old college student Mark Dombroski from Pennsylvania, went missing in the British island territory of Bermuda. Dombroski was on the island for a rugby tour with Saint Joseph’s University, and was last seen at a bar. He was supposed to leave on Sunday with his team, but was not on the return flight. On Sunday night he was found dead and officials have not yet released the cause of death. Police have said alcohol is not believed to have played a role in his disappearance.
