1) US Female Figure Skater Makes Olympic History
"Mirai Nagasu, 24, sailed through the air with a 3-rotation jump at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang to become the first American woman to land the high-risk triple axel during an Olympic competition.” states abc news. Seconds into her performance in the women's free skate at the team competition, Nagasu accomplished a rare move that made her not only the first American woman but the third woman ever to land a triple axel at the Olympics competition.Nagasu practiced her triple axel for four years straight. With the help of Nagasu's performance, team USA took home a bronze medal.

2) LA Horse Stables Closing After 50 Years in Griffith Park
After more than fifty years of service, Griffith Park Horse Rentals are shutting down this year in June. “Owner Julie Schad said her sublease with the Los Angeles Equestrian Center (LAEC) in Griffith Park expires at the end of May and that she and her horses will be forced to move out,” according to Daily News. Schad took over the sleepy horse rental back in 2003 and allows the community to rent the horses for guided horseback rides throughout the park. Although she’s being forced to leave Griffith Park, Schad remains optimistic that she’ll find a new space to re-open her horse rental business in L.A. County. “We’re actually looking forward to leaving,” she said. “We have high hopes," according to Daily News.

3) Men Armed with Guns Steal Jewelry from Costco
Three men reported robbing a Costco in Pacoima, Ca, one armed with a gun and two with hammers. "Los Angeles police said they received a call about the incident around 10:40 a.m. No injuries and shots were reported,” according to KTLA. They reportedly broke numerous glass cases filled with jewelry and left. Witnesses claimed to have seen the robbers leave in a 2012 or 2013 Mercedes. Authorities described the thieves as white or Hispanic men in their 30s who wore black hoodies. Police expect surveillance video from the store might help out with the investigation.

4) Immigration Debate
“In a rare move, the Senate will launch an unusual process late Monday afternoon to debate a legislative fix for the hundreds of thousands of so-called Dreamers who could face deportation come March 5.” according to ABC News. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told the press last week that this would be a fair debate for everyone in senate. He claims that who ever gets 60 votes will be what passes. A few senators participating in a bipartisan working group, which has more than two dozen senators, have high hopes they can come to some sort of a moderate solution to help Dreamers avoid deportation.

5) Donald Trump Jr.’s Wife Taken to Hospital
Vanessa Trump, 40, was analyzed at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center as a precaution, police said. She was immediately taken to a hospital in New York City today after opening a package at her home that had an unknown white powder, according to authorities.”Vanessa Trump reported feeling dizzy after she opened the enveloped, according to law enforcement,” according to ABC News. The weird letter was sent to Trump Jr.’s apartment In Manhattan this morning at 10am. The letter was reportedly unpleasant and suspicious according to sources. The white substance found in letter was deemed to be nonhazardous and is being transported to a lab in New York City for further examination.
