Lakers fall to Wolves as Davis exits early.

After a buzzer-beating win against the Mavs on Wednesday, the Lakers' three-game win streak ended in today's matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, falling 110–92 to move their season record to 16–14.

Anthony Davis suffered an ankle injury in the first half after Wolves’ Naz Reid accidentally twisted his ankle while on the floor, but Davis was able to battle back and return to the game. After getting a shove from LeBron James, Jaden McDaniels collided with Davis’ left midway through the third quarter.

Davis’ injury in the incident was a knee contusion, resulting in the awaiting results of an MRI tomorrow. Head coach Frank Vogel commented on Davis’ condition, saying: “Hopefully it’s something minor and he can get back soon, but we’ll find out more tomorrow.”

With Russell Westbrook and multiple Lakers on the roster reportedly entering COVID protocol yesterday, the Lakers signed former Laker Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract to help fill in the depth on the bench for the short-handed Lakers. Thankfully Westbrook was full-go before today's game, resulting in availability for tonight’s matchup.

In his return, Isaiah Thomas scored 19 (5 for 12) points in 21 minutes, finishing 42% overall from the floor, with 7 (7 for 9) of his points coming from the foul line.

LeBron James was the Lakers leading scorer in tonight’s loss, finishing with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, adding 5 assists in his efforts.

On Sunday, the Lakers will travel to Chicago to face a short-handed 17–10 Bulls team that's depleted with players in COVID protocol.
